Racing is an exhilarating sport, speeding around the track, adrenaline pumping, pushing it, every second.

Shelina Moreda #493
I was raised on a Dairy in Petaluma, California, where I learned to ride quads early in life so that I could bring in the cows! I grew up working hard and playing hard. I am ambitious and determined. I have participated in sports throughout my life and most recently, played on a women's semi-professional football team for four years. When I was twelve years old, I was introduced to dirtbikes and I have just begun roadracing after nine years of riding on the street. I am determined to excel as a female racer, I am comfortable on my bike and have the ambition to transcend with my racing.

What inspires me to compete?
I want to see how far I can go with my riding. It is something that I truly enjoy, I can push myself to my own limits and then break past them. It is exhilarating when you realize you've made a drastic improvement while you are working hard at improving. It is also rewarding when I see the looks from people who have been helping me, giving advice, tuning the bike, walking the track with me, after a drastic improvement or a small accomplishment (like remembering to look for a certain marker). Their support gives me that much more of a lift every time I come off the track.

Why do I like this sport?
This sport appeals to me because it is fast, challenging, and something I have been interested in for as long as I can remember. It is also appealing that, especially as a female rider, this is a sport where one person can make a huge impact, and accomplish great things.

What is my style?
I don't think I fit well into any particular category. I am a country girl, definitely. A Tomboy in many ways; I like to play sports, be outside, I have been on motorcycles since I was little, and a welder since high school. I can also play the pretty girl role; you can expect to see me dressed up with my hair done, and wouldn't be able to tell that I was a Tomboy at all. I enjoy being able to play in both worlds, keep up with the boys and turn around and run with the girls too. I am a go-getter. Give me an obstacle, I will surpass it.

Why do you compete?
While I thoroughly enjoy riding on the street, I am geared up to take my passion for riding motorcycles to the next level. Racing is a more productive way to go fast on a streetbike than riding fast on the street. I have improved my riding on the street and have made enough boys frustrated that they couldn't keep up that I have decided that I want to see what I can make of my riding at the racing level, and see how far I can take it.
